Norvel Writes

Norvel McDonald grew up in New York City and Uniondale, Long Island. After graduating from Uniondale High School, he earned a BSBA from Northeastern University in Boston, followed by an MBA from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

Throughout his career, Norvel held leadership roles at two Fortune 100 companies—one in information technology, the other in telecommunications.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, he played football, basketball, and ran track in high school. After earning his MBA, he discovered a passion for tennis and co-founded Topspin Unlimited, a club that grew to over 100 members. In retirement, golf became his favorite pastime.

He is the proud father of three beautiful intelligent daughters and grandfather to four wonderful grandchildren.

Beyond writing, Norvel enjoys listening to soft jazz, R&B/soul, salsa, and classic standards. He has a deep appreciation for fine art and loves traveling, especially to the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and Mexico.

He is a member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (Boulé) and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

For over two decades, Norvel wrote poetry and fiction as a hobby. His first published work was the poetry collection Thought Winds. More recently, he has dedicated himself to writing full-time and has since released:

Sitting on a Rainbow, a children’s book
The Goodlife Boys, a novel about five brothers raised in a Chicago group home
Have I Told You…, a love story
